OUR JOURNEY / 2016—2026

Great software
starts with real work.

What began as one roofer building his own tools grew into a technology platform created for the industry. This is the story behind Klaus Connect.

A DECADE IN THE MAKING

Every chapter built
on the one before.

From the first Roofbuilder prototype to an integrated, web-based application, the platform has always evolved alongside roofing contractors. The screenshots below are from the actual software throughout its history.

01 / THE BEGINNING

Built from a real roofing need

Before Klaus Connect, there was Roofbuilder. As Klaus Larsen Roofing grew, founder Klaus Larsen discovered FileMaker through Apple’s App Store and began building software himself. His goal wasn’t to create a technology company—it was to make the day-to-day work of a roofing company easier.

The first tools brought customer information, appointments, contracts, sales, and production together in a system shaped by real work.

Roofbuilder grows with the business

By 2019, Roofbuilder had become a more complete roofing management system with dedicated workflows for appointments, estimating, production, and marketing. These images capture the platform before Ravee “Jim” Tansangworn joined the company later that year.

With Jim’s experience in IT and software development, the next phase would focus on expanding and refining what Klaus had started.

Klaus Way Technology is born

Klaus and Jim saw that other roofing contractors faced many of the same operational challenges. In 2020, they founded Klaus Way Technology to take the lessons from Klaus Larsen Roofing and make practical, contractor-focused software available beyond their own company.

The FileMaker platform continued to evolve around lead management, customer records, estimates, sales, and field operations.

A platform for the entire company

Years of feedback and day-to-day use had made the system far more capable. By 2025, the FileMaker platform connected teams, supported scheduling across territories, and provided insight into the business through dashboards and operational reporting.

Each improvement came from a specific problem experienced by roofing professionals—not from a generic software checklist.

05 / THE TRANSITION

Ten years of FileMaker. One new beginning.

In 2026, the legacy CRM had grown into a substantial part of the company’s operations. But the same experience that made it powerful also exposed the limits of continuing to build on the original technology. It was time for a more accessible, scalable, web-based foundation.

In July 2026, we said goodbye to FileMaker and carried a decade of learning into a new chapter.

Meet the new Klaus Connect

Launched in July 2026, Klaus Connect represents the next generation of the platform: a modern web-based application designed to bring roofing teams, workflows, and information together. Dashboards, opportunities, property records, dispatch, and reporting now live in a more connected experience.

We didn’t start over. We built on everything we learned—then gave it room to grow.

OUR STORY CONTINUES

Built from experience.
Ready for what’s next.

Our platform has changed. Our purpose hasn’t: make technology work for roofing contractors, not the other way around.

These are authentic software screenshots. Customer details, employee identifiers, property information and internal company data have been obscured for public viewing.
